11 Dec Choosing a TMS: Which Should Take Precedence, Technology or the Consultant’s Experience?
Last November, during DIRFCON23, we interviewed José Antonio Díaz-Obregón, Treasury Director at Grupo Revenga Ingenieros. José Antonio shared his experience with attendees and the secret behind the success of selecting a TMS and implementing the tool. Throughout his experiences, José Antonio reveals that although the technology behind treasury management systems (TMS) is very similar, the key to success lies in who leads the implementation.

4 Experiences in Selecting a TMS
While in the first three projects in which José Antonio participated, he opted for the standard, well-known solution, in the fourth, he decided to take a risk and try selecting a new, little-known TMS. The crucial difference was his confidence in the team of consultants who were leading the introduction of this new TMS into the Spanish market. His confidence in the consulting team was based on the certainty that they could shorten implementation timelines thanks to their experience, financial expertise, and alignment with the CFO’s objectives.
The conclusion is clear: although TMS technology may be uniform, the distinguishing factor lies in who implements the solution.
